2K, the well-know sports gaming goliath, and the creators of the Project Gotham Racing series (and Metropolis Street Racer, if you remember the Sega Dreamcast), have announced a new racing game for the iPhone and iPad, 2K Drive. The mobile racing title will launch this fall as a premium title. Autoblog will be a content provider, delivering news to players via the in-game newsfeed. We’re stoked.
2K Drive can be played on mobile devices using the iOS operating system, and the graphics take us back to the early days of Xbox – which is to say they’re very good-looking for a mobile game. It will feature a mix of original and 25 licensed vehicles, and pits players as competitive drivers in races around the globe. Players can pick between single player and multiplayer modes. Some of the licensed vehicles are from manufacturers like Dodge, Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Mazda, McLaren and Nissan.
The game looks quite fun to us, and we’re especially excited to try land-speed racing on the Bonneville Salt Flats and multiplayer off-road truck racing. Keep your eye on this one, but in the meantime check out the video trailer and press release below.
